Winterfest is brought to you by The Pagosa Springs Area Chamber of Commerce. This is an activity-packed weekend for the whole family here in Pagosa! The Hot-Air Balloon Mass Ascensions, Bonfire, Penguin Plunge, BB Gun Biathlon, Cross Country Ski Clinic, and Sled Races keep the family busy for days with even time left to enjoy the hot springs, restaurants, shops and snow-covered hills and mountains.

2024 Bonfire

January 19th
5 - 8 pm
Located at the Archuleta County Fairgrounds, 344 Highway 84

Enjoy live music, alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages (hot and cold), delicious food from food trucks and lots of heat from the giant bonfire!
You can drop your live Christmas tees off at the fairgrounds prior to the event starting December 26 and contribute to the blaze.

Pagosa Nordic Club BB Gun Biathlon - Saturday, January 20

 

Race check-in and bib pick-up for all races at 9:15 a.m.

16K competitive
4K citizens-youth / KidK
Freestyle: citizen / youth / KidK

Great event for all ages, abilities and spectators.

Participants will have the opportunity to test shoot at targets for one half hour before their race.

Learn to Cross Country Ski Clinic - Sunday, January 21

Cloman Park

This introductory clinic is great for never-evers, beginners and intermediate level X-C skiers. Learn skate ski and classic cross-country ski basics from some of Pagosa Springs’ best skiers. Come learn how to make these outdoor winter activities even more enjoyable. Bring your ski gear; skate skis or classic kick and glide. All local ski shops rent cross-country ski gear and offer special rental discounts for these clinics- just mention your are attending the clinic.

All free of charge. Donations and Pagosa Nordic Club membership are strongly encouraged to help offset expenses with conducting the clinics and trail grooming.

PLEASE plan on arriving early and being geared up and checked in by 9:45 am with class starting at 10 am as late arrivals are disruptive to the classes. Parking is often packed! Leave time to park and walk to the staging area.
Classes are approximately 1 ½ hours long.
Pre-Registration is required to determine experience level and type of skiing preferred.

Proceeds benefit Rugby’s Rescue House

The Lost Cajun is hosting this event as a benefit for Rugby’s Rescue House on January 20th at 11:00 a.m. Bring your costumed pet and parade with us! Prizes for best costumes! Registration begins at 10:30 in Town Park. 

Participants are asked to make a small donation (suggested $10) to Rugby’s Rescue House and they receive a free cup of gumbo at The Lost Cajun in return.

14th Annual Penguin Plunge

Support your favorite non-profits by raising money and plunging into the freezing cold San Juan River, or enjoy the view from the San Juan River Walk. These brave souls don’t just jump in and get out, we make them REALLY plunge into the river!
As a plunger enjoy a free soaking pass to one of Pagosa’s hot mineral spa facilities along with other participant goodies and prizes.
Registration to plunge required along with raising money for a community non-profit organization.
We also have a SPECIAL GUEST at this event! Your kids will love it!

Sledz on Rez

Build It. Ride It. Win It.

Reservoir Hill - downtown Pagosa Springs
Registration begins at 1:00 p.m. Sledding begins at 2:30 p.m.

Bring your homemade sleds and try to ride them down Reservoir Hill located in downtown Pagosa Springs. Lots of prizes for Best Team, Most Creative, Best of Show and many more. Fun for the whole family.  No charge to sled or attend, food and drinks available on site.

Hot Air Balloon Mass Ascensions

Uptown in the Pagosa Lakes Area

8 AM SATURDAY (Jan 20th) & SUNDAY (Jan 21st): UPTOWN: Around Park Ave.

Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. See the balloons fill the winter sky over the Pagosa Lakes area. Grab a cup of coffee or cocoa, and come enjoy the spectacular view!

Parking is NOT permitted on Hwy 160 to view the balloons.
